The Computational Humanist from University to Industry

A lunch discussion with Matt Jockers

Humanists across the country are reimagining their work outside of the traditional context of the university.

PhD programs are reevaluating their curriculum, humanities scholars are increasingly engaging in "public humanities," and many humanists are bringing their expertise to industry. During this lunch, we will be discussing the ways in digital humanities offers scholars new opportunities to take their work outside of the academy.

We will be in dialogue with Matthew Jockers, who left his academic career after 25 years to join Apple. Author of works such as The Bestseller Code, which have had an impact both inside and outside of the academy, Jockers' career is a testament to the new affordances of a humanities education in an increasingly computational world. Please join us for this important discussion on digital humanities, the modern university, and the future of what it means to be a humanist.
