If you wish to pursue a major in IPH, you will need to complete either a five-course core of courses in Text & Tradition or a FOCUS program and an additional three-course selection in Text & Tradition (of which must be on pre-modern culture).

To apply to the major, students will participate in the sophomore review by:

1) submitting a portfolio of two or three academic essays (6-10 pages each) previously written for a T&T or FOCUS course

2) providing a letter of support from one of your professors

3) meeting with the director and two IPH faculty

Deadline for application: all prospective majors must apply by April 1 of the sophomore year, though you are encouraged to apply earlier.
